The number of people signing on the Live Register in Roscommon show jobless figures have shot up to 3,945, a marked increase of 852 or 27.5 percent on last year's figure of 3,093 according to January 2010 figures released by the Central Statistics Office.

Dear Editor The depressing news that the January Live Register of people registering as being available for work at the Boyle Office has gone across the thousand mark for the second time in weeks (actual 1,012) is proof positive (if it were needed) that the current Government policy on job creation is not working for the Boyle catchment area.
