Report into HSE handling of abuse case completed

THE INVESTIGATION into the handling by the Health Service Executive (HSE) of the Roscommon child abuse case has been completed.

It is understood that lawyers for the HSE are currently vetting the findings of the investigation, which were handed over to the HSE last week.

The much awaited report follows an investigation led by Norah Gibbons, a director of the children’s charity, Barnardos, into the “house of horrors” abuse case in County Roscommon. The report is expected to shed light on the handling of the case by the HSE and social workers.

It is understood that the findings of the investigation will not go to the Minister for Children Barry Andrews until they have been vetted by the HSE’s legal team.
