Roscommon County Council has announced the return of its bulky goods collection events, taking place at the Castlerea Civic Amenity Site.
The initiative is funded by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications through the Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities (WERLA) under the Anti-Dumping Initiative (ADI) 2026, The collections will take place on Friday, June 12th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 13th again from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Both collections will provide householders with an opportunity to dispose of large, unwanted items in an environmentally responsible manner.
Accepted materials include upholstered furniture (such as armchairs and couches), mattresses, carpets, bathroom suites (including showers, toilets and sinks), outdoor furniture, and hard plastics (including large children’s toys, chairs and clean containers).
The service is for domestic householders only, and commercial waste will not be accepted. A €20 entry fee per car, van or trailer applies, payable in cash on the day.
Environment education and awareness officer with Roscommon County Council Jonathan Jones said they expected both collection days to be very busy and asked people to be patient if queuing. "This service is part of our commitment as a local authority to provide safe and secure services for proper waste disposal while combatting the scourge of illegal dumping."
