Local postmaster confirms local elections bid

Paul Forde, Independent Ireland local elections candidate for Boyle Municipal District.

A long-serving postmaster at Boyle Post Office has announced that he will run in June's local elections as a candidate for the Independent Ireland party.

Paul Forde (59), Kingsland, Boyle has declared his candidacy for Independent Ireland, and will run in the Boyle Municipal District in this summer's local elections.

The party, established late last year, comprises a number of TDS around the country, including Roscommon-Galway Deputy, Michael Fitzmaurice.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Forde has worked with An Post and has served as the postmaster at Boyle Post Office for the last 18 years.

In addition to his role in the postal service, Forde also runs a small beef farm with his wife Maureen.

Motivated by his passion for supporting small farmers and local businesses,  Mr Forde has decided to enter the political arena to advocate for rural communities and underrepresented groups.

"I am deeply committed to advocating for local communities and ensuring that the voices of farmers, business owners, and underrepresented groups are heard," he said.

Deputy Fitzmaurice said: "Paul Forde's extensive experience in business, farming, and community service make him an exceptional candidate for Independent Ireland."
