Call into The Shambles, Ballaghaderreen for a coffee/tea in support of 16 Days against gender-based violence on Wednesday, December 6th from 10.30 a.m..

RONAN REGAN MEMORIAL TRACTOR RUN 

The annual Ronan Regan Memorial Tractor Run returns for 2023 on Sunday, December 17th. There will also be a children’s tractor run that evening. 

Tractors, bikes, vintage and trucks are welcome on the day.

COMMUNITY GAMES AGM 

The AGM of Ballaghaderreen Community Games was held at the Community Park Clubhouse on Monday, November 27th, 2023. 

The following officers were elected for the coming year: Chairperson, Joanne Regan; Secretary, Declan Regan; Treasurer, Alice Naughton; Assistant Treasurer Irene Davey; PRO, Brid Duffy; Children’s Officer, Jennifer McCann; Youth Officer, Bernie Lynch; committee members Karen Duffy and Gillian McCormack.

MEN’S SHED CARD DRIVE 

The Men’s Shed Card Drive will be held in Ballaghaderreen Men’s Shed on this Thursday, December 7th and December 14th, from 8 to 10 p.m.. There will be numerous prizes on offer.

CAROL SERVICE 

A carol service will take place in St Nathy’s Cathedral on December 14th, at 7p.m.

SOCCER CLUB 50/50 DRAW 

The soccer club’s 50/50 weekly draw took place on Tuesday, November 28th at the Community Park Clubhouse. The jackpot of €255 was won by Liam Costigan– seller Old Forge Inn. 

Next draw takes place on Tuesday, December 5th at the Community Park Clubhouse. Ballaghaderreen FC wishes to thank all who support the weekly draw, also all the premises and outlets that sell the tickets for the weekly draw.

GOLF NEWS 

On Thursday, November 23rd Fr. Paul Kivlehan, along with members of the golf club celebrated the annual November Remembrance Mass for deceased members of the club in the Ccubhouse. Votes of sympathy were expressed to the McCann, Kelly, Keenan, Kiernan and Tobin/Neilan families on their recent sad losses. The AGM took place immediately afterwards and the following officers were elected for 2024: Men’s Captain, Danny Browne: Men’s Vice-Captain, Conor Sweeney; Lady Captain, Sarah McDonagh; Lady Vice Captain, Eithne McGarry; President, Michael Towey; Chairperson, John Freeman; Secretary, Helen Curran; Treasurer, James Dooney; Course Manager, Martin Duffy; Registrar, Brendan Cox; Committee, Anne O’Brien, Eoin Buckley, Gerry Cooney, Breege Flanagan, Patricia Reid and Pauline Gibbons. The club would like to thank outgoing officers Maura Madden, Sean Kavanagh, Paul McLoughlin, Pauline Gibbons and Colm Flannery for making 2023 such a successful golfing year for the club. CARRENTEMPLE CEMETERY 

Carrentemple Cemetery Committee wish to thank everyone who contributed to the collection for the maintenance and improvements for the cemetery. A total of €1,145 was collected on the day the November prayers for the dead were recited.

BINGO 

Bingo is held in Gurteen Hall every Friday at 8 p.m.. Jackpot of €2700 on forty seven calls or less. Lotto raffle jackpot €300- Also, 50/50 split. Support is greatly appreciated.

RSS VACANCY 

There is a position available on Gurteen RSS to work outdoors.

MASSES ON CHRISTMAS EVE

Mass in Gurteen Church for Christmas Eve will be at 6.30 p.m.- also that morning the earlier Mass will be at 11 a.m.. Christmas is falling on Sunday this year.

Santa is coming to Cloonloo Hall on Sunday at 3 p.m. and booking is essential.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

The annual St. Vincent De Paul Ballymote Branch collection is this Saturday and Sunday. Funds contributed will go to local needs. Your support as always would be gratefully appreciated.

EASTERN HARPS 50/50

The Eastern Harps 50/50 draw on Monday night week with a Jackpot of €562 was won by Karen Powell, Monasteraden. 

The club is very appreciative of all the support.

GURTÉEN CELTIC

There was no winner of the jackpot of €6,700 on Sunday night week last. 

The numbers were 1, 4, 12, 18. Winner of the €50 was Ann and Bella O'Dowd, Gurteen, The club is most appreciative of all support.
