A show of support for the Aldi project in Boyle will take place on Saturday, February 28th at 2 p.m. on The Crescent. Organisers says this is to give people the chance to show how much this project means to the people and how vital it is that this project goes ahead for Boyle to progress. "All that is asked of you is to turn up in large numbers to show your support," said the organisers
The newly founded Killaraght Active Age group is hosting a public meeting at 8 p.m. on March 5th in Killaraght Community Centre where the guest speaker will be Sergeant Cara Kiernan, crime prevention officer, Sligo-Leitrim Garda Division. The presentation will cover home security, scam awareness, personal safety and community crime prevention. It will be followed by a question and answer session. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The death took place last week, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Sligo University Hospital of Mrs Margaret Meehan (née Smith) formerly of Boyle, and Drumdeerig Nursing Home. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom, her parents, James and Frances Smith, siblings Maureen, Jerry, Elizabeth, Belinda, Tom, Michael, Jim, John-Joe and George. Dear mother of Frances, Agnes Logue, Bernadette McLoughlin and Regina. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, beloved brother Austin, grandchildren, Shane, Caoimhe, Mark, Darragh, Eoin, Ciaran, Cathal, Aisling, Shona, Michael, Steven and Vanessa, sons-in-law, Anthony, John and Peter, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Following Requiem Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo on Saturday, Margaret was laid to rest in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Scarden. Margaret hailed originally from the townland of Derrycashel, Corrigeenroe, Boyle and was the second youngest in a family of ten. She started work in the Roscommon Herald aged 18 years of age in 1950, making her way to and from the newspaper on a moped in hail, rain or snow. She was a member of the clerical staff whose job description included everything from sales and advertising to proof reading. In 1963 she left the Roscommon Herald to marry Geevagh man, Tom Meehan, who was stationed in Hong Kong at that time.
The AGM of the Roscommon branch of Multiple Sclerosis Ireland will take place on Tuesday, March 3rd in Durkin’s, The Square, Ballaghaderreen, starting at 7 p.m. with a Guest Speaker from MABS. Refreshments will be served on the night. All are welcome.

The death occurred on February 22nd, peacefully, after a brief illness, in the exceptional care of the staff of the Plunkett Community Nursing Home, Boyle, of Mr Brendan Keville, Cornameeltha, Boyle. Beloved brother of Kathleen (O’Gara), Alice (Gately), Teresa (Flaherty) and the late Marie (Lyons). Sadly missed by his loving family, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Funeral arriving at St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle, for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. this morning, Tuesday 24th followed by burial in Assylinn (old) Cemetery.
Boyle One Voice Singers will meet on Thursday, February 26th in the Boyle Family Resource Centre at 7 p.m.. New members are always very welcome – there are no auditions required, just a love of music, singing, fun and community.

The inaugural Lough Key Legends Half Marathon and 10k run will take place on Sunday, May 10th. The event promises to be an unforgettable trail running experience at Lough Key Forest and Activity Park. This is a fully chipped timed event, and every runner receives an official T-shirt, finisher medal, race bag, and free parking. A portion of proceeds supports the chosen charity for 2026 – The North West Hospice. Participants must be 16 years of age and older on race day.
Roscommon County Council Arts Office is inviting submissions from artists for innovative public artwork for the new Boyle Community Library. Proposals for outdoor and/or indoor permanent artworks are invited, which may incorporate other artforms such as literature, film, music etc. The proposal may be / or have elements that are tactile or interactive. The overall commission budget is €36,000 including VAT and the deadline for proposals is 4 p.m. on Monday, March 30th. The initiative is funded by the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund under the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.
The next traditional music session, with Liam Purcell and friends, will take place in Crossna Community Centre, Cleen Hall on Sunday, March 1st from 4 to 6 p.m.. All are welcome.

The Crossna Community Co-op Committee is proposing to stage another “Melodies and Memories” concert in May.
