A rainbow captured on New Year’s Day at Erritt, Carrowbehy by Martin Walshe, Erritt, Carrowbehy.
When Castlerea Community School defeated Roscommon CBS second team in the county school juvenile championship at O'Rourke Park prior to Christmas, playing at centerfield for Castlerea Community School was Ciaran Higgins who had an outstanding game, and he was joined in the second half by his twin brothers, Senan and Odhran who also performed well. Ciaran is in Second Year and the twins are in First Year. They are all playing members of the Western Gaels Club and have a bright future ahead of them. The manager of the community juvenile team is teacher Paul Gooney with Danny Burke. Danny said that he has been involved with schools football in Castlerea since 1965 when he trained the Castlerea Vocational to win their first senior county championship and St. Joseph's secondary school to win their first Connacht Colleges Championship Division C the same year. He never remembers three from the one family playing on a school team. Best of luck to the boys in the years ahead.
