BOYLE SCHOOLS IN CREDIT UNION NATIONAL QUIZ FINALS

Two primary schools in Boyle have qualified for the national finals of the Credit Union Schools’ Quiz 2024 which will be held in the RDS, Dublin on Sunday, April 7th.

Boyle Parochial School has qualified in the U-13 age category while Abbey Primary School has reached the final in the U-11 age category. Both schools were winners of the local competition at which 20 teams from schools in the Boyle Credit Union common bond catchment area competed in each age category. They then went on to compete in the Chapter (regional) final in Carrick-on-Shannon where they overcame teams representing schools in counties Leitrim and Sligo, thus qualifying for the National Final.

It is an outstanding achievement for the team from the Parochial School, considering that they have an enrolment of only 27 pupils. They are a credit to their school principal Mardette Lynch and her staff and their quiz assistant Bernadette Lyons who have devoted so much time and effort into their preparations. They are bringing a bus load of supporters to the RDS for the event. The team consists of Badger McGowan, Emmanuel Abu Boahen, Domantas Bernatavicius and Kai Wynne.

Abbey Primary School is the recently amalgamated Scoil Chriost an Rí and St Joseph's BNS. These schools are no strangers to the national finals, having had teams reach that stage and perform with distinction there in the past. This year's team consists of Mia Kitroy, Kaylee McDermott Earley, James Duffy and Conor Flanagan. They are being ably coached by their teachers Fiona Keenan and Hugh Duffy and under the guidance of Michael Solan, Principal.

Boyle Credit Union is delighted with their achievements and is pleased to provide financial sponsorship to help defray the cost of refreshments and travel to Dublin.
