Gaelscoil de hÍde, Roscommon The Student Council at Gaelscoil de hÍde, Roscommon recently organised a Jersey Day in aid of the Sunflower Children's Hospice, raising an impressive €486.15. A massive congratulations to the wonderful Roscommon Special Olympics Club athletes who represented Roscommon Town, County & Connacht with such pride at the National Summer Games in Dublin! From the pool to the running track and the pitches, your bravery, absolute determination, and sportsmanship have inspired us all. You trained incredibly hard, gave it your absolute best, and have made your families, friends, and the whole community so very proud. A huge shoutout also to the phenomenal coaches and volunteers whose dedication makes moments like this possible. Welcome home, superstars!

We had our final Chess Club session of the term, and what a brilliant way to wrap things up! First and foremost, a massive THANK YOU to all of our amazing young chess players. Your dedication, focus, and strategic thinking over the last few weeks have been incredible to watch. We have seen so much growth, so many breakthroughs, and countless achievements—you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves!
We also want to give a huge shout-out to the parents who joined us for our final day. Thank you for stepping up to the board, facing off against our reigning champs, and making the finale so special.

A gentle and welcoming shared reading group takes place in the Roscommon library, open to people living with dementia and their carers. Come along to relax, enjoy listening to stories of local history or any topic, and share a cup of tea in a friendly, supportive setting. There is no pressure to read - simply listen and enjoy the company. Every second Wednesday at 11 a.m. starting, June 24th. From exciting day trips to adventure centres and outdoor activities, to creative arts and crafts, cooking, teamwork challenges, and other life skills workshops, these sessions give young carers the chance to make friends, build confidence, learn new skills, and most importantly, have fun and enjoy being young.
