There will be no daily Mass in the parish this week, until Thursday, August 27th, inclusive.
Station Masses will resume again in September. Dates and times will be displayed in the church porches. Station offerings go to help support the parish clergy and envelopes will be left in the church porches. The parish clergy appreciate your kind support.
Couples celebrating their silver, ruby, diamond, platinum or other wedding anniversaries are invited to attend one of two Masses along with their families and friends on either Sunday, October 4th at 2.30 p.m., at Ballaghaderreen Cathedral or Sunday, October 11th at 2.30 p.m., at Kiltoom Church. Bishop Kevin Doran will celebrate both Masses. Light refreshments will be served afterwards for all in attendance. As each couple celebrating an anniversary will receive a certificate from the Bishop, they are asked to register their details at www.achonryelphin.ie.
The Achonry and Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from August 28th to September 2nd inclusive. Those who travel as part of the assisted pilgrim section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated near the grotto and sanctuary area. They will be cared for by the diocesan pilgrimage care team while in Lourdes.
The Living Well Programme helps people with a long term health condition and helps improve their overall wellbeing. Anyone with any chronic illness can benefit from these workshops. A new programme will start in Boyle on Wednesday, September 9th, from 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m., continuing for six weeks. Places are free and HSE funded but advance registration is required. Ms Mary Rose McNally, solicitor, Farnbeg, Strokestown, has been bereaved by the recent death of her mother, Mrs Rose Anne McNally (nee Smith), of Kilbride, Abbeylara, County Longford, wife of the late Mr John (Jack) McNally (late of Coolamber, Lisryan, County Longford). She was daughter of the late Mr Peter Smith and of the late Mrs Mary Anne Smith (nee Olwill), Ballinagh, County Cavan. The Funeral Mass was celebrated in Bernard's Church, Abbeylara, and the interment followed in St. Joseph's New Cemetery, Drumkilly, County Cavan. She is survived by her daughter, cousins and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
The death took place recently in London, of Mr John (Johnny) Fallon. A native of Doughill, Curraghroe, he was son of the late Mr Patrick Fallon and of the late Mrs Ann Fallon (nee Murray). He spent part of his retirement years residing in Doughill where he made many firm friends in the neighbourhood. News of his passing was heard of with deep regret among his relatives, neighbours and friends. A cremation ceremony took place at Norwood Crematorium, London. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Cecilia's Church, Curraghroe, by Father Daniel Udofia, M.S.P., P.P., and the committal of his ashes took place at Cloontuskert Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Sheila; sons, Patrick and Damian; brothers, Bart (Doughill), Patsy (Lanesborough) and Tommy (Dublin); sister, Mrs Mary Feely (Mantua), and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
Thanks to all 61 people who turned up for a run, jog and walk at Strokestown Park last weekend, including 11 first timers. This was one of the busier events and you could really feel the buzz around the place. The first runner to storm across the line was Arthur Donnelly, in a blistering time of 19:46. He was closely followed by Cian Crosbie, at 21:08, and Siobhan Nugent, the first lady, flying in at 22 minutes flat. Congrats to Gillian Regan, Trevor Hunt, Odhran Hall, Hazel Foster, Annette McSweeney, Sinead O'Reilly and Eileen Beirne on all of the PBs. Thanks as always to the brilliantly helpful team of volunteers who make the event happen.
In the Kilglass Gaels Lotto held on August 15th the numbers drawn were 3, 8, 23, 24 Bonus Number, 1. There was no jackpot winner, There were three Match 3 number winners of €67 each Chris Tighe, C & A Delaney, Pauline Hanley (online). Next jackpot €2100 for four correct numbers, €6100 for four correct numbers plus Bonus Number. Next draw takes place in the clubrooms on Saturday, August 29th.
Progressive 25 continues in Kilglass GAA Centre on Tuesdays at 9 p.m.. Last week's winners were 1st, Pat Mullooly; 2nd, Oliver Compton; raffle, J P Farrell. New players welcome.

The next monthly mega bingo will take place in the 98 Memorial Hall Ballinamuck on the first Tuesday of September (September 1st) at 8.30 p.m...
