Many worthy and justifiable tributes have been paid to the late RTÉ broadcaster, Michael Lyster. The deceased had strong connections with the Clooneyquin area where a number of close relatives resided. Many in the community will remember the late Tom and Joe King who were cousins of Michael’s late father Martin. Both gentlemen resided in Clooneyquin, where in more gentle times, they hosted a rambling house of considerable repute where the hospitality and conviviality extended to visitors was second to none. Their late brother John was also a regular visitor to the community as were the extended family. The late Michael Lyster was a constant in the lives of many watching big GAA matches over many years – may he rest in peace.
