ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE 

The Boyle St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place this year at 3.30 p.m. on March 17th starting at Carty’s Garage. The viewing stand will remain on the Crescent this year. DJ Stan will play before and during the parade with face painting also available. After the parade concludes two music events will take place. Music Generation will hold a concert after the parade in Daly’s Warehouse featuring lots of local children showcasing their musical talents and on the viewing stand local band Spiral will host a music session. Organisers are appealing to the public to support the parade by contribution to the Go Fund me page, https://gofund.me/f3a409eb4

NIGHT AND DAY FESTIVAL 

The Night and Day Festival returns to Lough Key Activity Park from May 29th - 31st, promising a weekend full of music, creativity and unforgettable moments. KILLARAGHT ACTIVE AGE 

The newly founded Killaraght Active Age is hosting a public meeting at 8 p.m. on March 5th in Killaraght Community Centre where the guest speaker will be Sergeant Cara Kiernan, crime prevention officer, Sligo-Leitrim Garda Division. The presentation will cover home security, scam awareness, personal safety and community crime prevention and will be followed by a question and answer session. Admission is free and all are welcome.

BOYLE GAA 50/50 DRAW 

Boyle GAA’s new 50/50 draw has been launched with a guaranteed minimum prize of €2,000. Tickets are available online at www.boylegaa5050.com, on the Boyle GAA Club App or there are a number of outlets around town where you can purchase tickets. Online entries close at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 7th.

CELTIC 50/50 DRAW

Last Friday’s winner of the Boyle Celtic 50/50 draw was David Morgan, who won €1637. Tickets are on sale now for next Friday’s draw from all the usual outlets and online.

CAPTAINS’ DRIVE IN

 Sunday next sees the official start of the golfing year at Boyle Golf Club with the Captains’ Drive-In. The men’s captain this year is Paddy McLoughlin and Michelle Quinn is the lady captain. Paddy and Michelle will be there on the day to do the traditional ceremonial drive so ome along to show your support for the new captains. The competition format will be the usual one of a 9 hole Scramble, with names to be in for a draw for teams at 12.30, with shotgun start at 1 p.m..

BEGINNER GOLF LESSONS 

There will be men’s golf lessons at the club this year running as a block of weekly lessons on a Wednesday evening from April to July. If you are interested please send a brief email with name, address, phone etc to boylegolfclub9@gmail.com. There will also be ladies lessons, details yet to be finalised, but they will be running over the same time period.

COOTEHALL/CROSSNA/DRUMBOYLAN 

ARDCARNE GRAVEYARD COMMITTEE APPEALING FOR HELP 

The upkeep of Ardcarne and Kileenan Graveyards has been managed by the Ardcarne Graveyard Committee for the past 33 years, ensuring the graveyards have been kept in pristine condition. At AGM on Wednesday, February 18th the committee was unable to fill the role of secretary. Therefore, an EGM will take place on Wednesday, March 11th at 8.30 p.m. in the John McGahern Barracks, Cootehall. The committee urgently requests new members to join to ensure the graveyards can continue to be maintained to a high standard. If not, the committee will have no option but to disband.

The County Leitrim Percy French Society will present its show ‘Remember me is all I ask’- the songs, recitations and parodies of the great Irish composer Percy French in the Hunt Hall, Mohill , on Thursday, March 5th at 8 p.m.. Proceeds to St Mary’s Parish.

The Crossna Community Co-op Committee is proposing to stage another “Melodies and Memories” concert in May 2026. The committee is asking anyone interested in submitting a piece of writing (approx. 800 words) to be read at the concert to send it to patmolloy3@gmail.com or to maymoran85@gmail.com on or before March 31st.
