LATE MRS BRIDGIE MCDERMOTT 

 The death occurred on Saturday, May 16th, peacefully at home, of Mrs Bridgie McDermott (nee Beirne), Abbeytown, Boyle and formerly of Tournagee, Kingsland. Predeceased by her parents, Terrence and Bridget, her husband, John, her sisters, Sarah, Mary and Philomena and her brother, Johnny. Sadly missed by her daughters Joan (Boyle), Sheila (Frenchpark) and Margaret (David) (Frenchpark); son David (Teresa) (Kingsland); brothers, Pat, Michael, Terry; sister, Winnie; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers in law, sisters in law, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Funeral will arrive to St Joseph’s Church, Boyle, today Tuesday, May 19th for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial will take place in Killaraght Old Cemetery.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice is seeking help raising funds on National Sunflower Days for Hospice on Friday & Saturday, June 12th&13th. DEMENTIA ALLIANCE MONTHLY CAFÉ 

Roscommon Dementia Alliance monthly Café will take place on this Wednesday, May 20th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lough Key Forest Park. The meeting offers help for people affected by dementia, their families and carers. with music, song, advice and a chat. GAA 50/50 DRAW

GOLF NEWS 

The past two weekends saw the Committee Cup take place, with the ladies on last weekend and the men’s section playing on May 16th/17th. Playing conditions were tricky due to inclement weather on the Sunday and ideal conditions for grass growth which lead to some difficult shots from the rough at times. Winner Lochlainn Conboy however made light work of it, playing the third 9 playoff in a superb one under gross 33 - 1st, Lochlainn Conboy; 2nd ,Colm Connolly; gross, Jason Beirne; 3rd, Eoin Connolly; ladies winner ,Fiona Keenan.

CONNACHT CUPS ON TOUR 

 Big thanks to Ruadhan & Conor, along with coaching officers Peter & Stephen, for visiting Drumboylan and Cootehall schools last week with the Minor, U20 & Senior Connacht Cups. There was great excitement among the students, staff ,and community and hopefully the visit will inspire the next generation.

FUNDRAISING EVENT 

 “A Night of Music and A Lifetime of Memories”, a special fundraising evening in support of 9-year-old Rosemary Kelly, daughter of John and Aishling, who is living with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS), will take place on Thursday, May 21st at Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway (N41TP6), with doors opening at 6 p.m. and music starting at 7 p.m.. Enjoy performances from the McGovern family, Ensemble 32, Eleanor Shanley, Charlie McGettigan, and Leitrim Male Voice Choir. This is a non-ticketed event—donations are welcome at the door or via QR code.

COMMUNITY GAMES SUCCESS

Congratulations to Ardcarne U-16 Choir Group and their mentor Anne-Marie Harte who won gold at the talent competition in Kilbride last week. Congratulations to Aoibheann Beirne who came away with a gold medal in the solo singing. Congratulations also to club member Amelia Noone (Croghan/Drumlion/Cortober area) who came second in the competition. Congratulations also to Abigail Harrison who performed in the solo modern/contemporary dance and came third against very stiff competition.

SPCA COLLECTION 

Roscommon SPCA will be holding its annual church gate collection at St. Michael’s Church, Cootehall on Sunday, May 24th. Roscommon SPCA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers with all money donated going directly towards animal welfare in the county.
