Local Notes: Windmill Classic, Rounders, Keep Fit Classes
The Palace Neighbourwood Park, which is located across the road from the Windmill in Elphin, is a designated location for "Parks on the Air".

An exhibition and sale of paintings by Lily Walshe, Elphin, will be held in Creeve Community Centre F45HD89 on June 13th & 14th. The opening will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 7.30 p.m. with cheese and wine reception. Please support this worthy cause.
Achonry and Elphin Diocese Apostolic Work will host its annual display day in Kilbride Community Centre, Fourmilehouse on June 7th. Doors will open at 12 noon, Mass at 2 p.m.. Tidy Towns volunteers meet up at day centre polytunnel every Saturday at 10.30 a.m., all welcome, even if you can only come now and again for half hour, every little counts. There are very few volunteers and more help is needed to keep the momentum going. Thanks to Carrick-on-Shannon Tidy Towns for seeds collected from their seed library at Carrick Biodiversity Park. The Elphin group will be saving seeds from these plants and hope to be able to share seeds with the community next year. It’s all part of being involved in Tidy Towns, sharing across communities and helping each other.
A fantastic night of traditional music, song and craic at will be held at the June monthly music session in the Central Bar (Cathal Murray’s), Elphin on Saturday, June 20th, junior session, 7pm–9 p.m.. This will be the last hurrah before the Fleadh. This will be a special warm-up for all young musicians and singers ahead of the Connacht Fleadh this July. Main session, 9 p.m.. All traditional musicians and singers welcome. Come along for a great night of tunes, songs, friendship and community.

Well done to Elphin U-12 mixed team who participated in the first ever Rounders Go Games event in the Roscommon GAA calendar recently in Lisnamult. The team had a great day, playing three games against Michael Glavey’s, Kilmore and Roscommon Gaels. Thanks to all the parents who came to support, Sean and Jamie for refereeing on the day and Roscommon Gaels for hosting the event. There will be three more Go Games events in Roscommon this year – Saturday, June 27th, July 25th and August 29th. If your child is interested in playing, please message Pauline on 0863775904.
The Elphin ladies rounders team travelled to Michael Glavey’s for their second game in the intermediate championship, and from the throw-in it was clear that Elphin came with confidence and determination. Showing great skill and teamwork throughout the game, the girls put in a strong performance from start to finish. Their hard work paid off as they came away with the win and another important result on the board . Well done to all involved and thank you to Glavey’s for their hospitality after the game.

Keep fit classes with activator poles continue in Elphin Community Centre on Thursdays at 9 p.m..Come along and get fit for summer. A warm welcome promised.
The Shannon Basin Radio Club recently made a small financial donation to the windmill restoration fund in appreciation for the assistance given by the mill committee in regard to Mills on the Air and Parks on the Air. The Traditional Irish music sessions are continuing each Tuesday night in the Tower Inn at 8.30 p.m. with a great mix of musicians and instruments which combines culture and heritage with an enjoyable nights entertainment, so whether you are a musician or listener come along to the Tower Inn and support this great event.
