LATE SR. ANNA BEIRNE 

The death occurred peacefully at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin on April 23rd of Sr. Anna Beirne SS.CC Sacred Hearts Community, Ranelagh, Dublin and late of Elphin. Predeceased by her parents, Bartley and Mary Kate, her brother Eddie, sister-in-law, Maureen and brother-in-law Paddy. Deeply regretted by her sisters, Maura and Nonie; brothers Tony and Mark; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, Sacred Hearts Congregation, friends and neighbours. Following Funeral Mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart, St John's Drive, Sruleen, Dublin D22 burial took place in Newlands Cross Cemetery, Ballymount Road, Tallaght.

WALKING CHALLENGE 

Elphin GAA Club member Shane completed a 106km walking challenge in 24 hours on Saturday last starting at 7.30 a.m. in the Isle of Wight. Shane is hoping to help to raise funds for SOS Elphin.

COMMUNITY GAMES 

Expressions of interest are invited for all children aged between 6 and 16 years for Elphin Community Games talent competitions taking place on Thursday, May 15th in Kilbride Community Centre at 6 p.m.. If your child is interested please contact the committee, or e-mail elphin@communitygames.ie.

MOTHER, BABY AND TODDLER GROUP 

A new mother, baby and toddler group meets at Elphin Community Centre from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. every second Wednesday during term time. For information contact Helena on 0879759076 or Niamh on 0892260223.

DAY CENTRE 

Thanks to Clar funding Elphin Day Centre now has two vans covering a greater area. If anyone wishes to avail of the day centre services please ring 0719635566 or 0876803675.

TOWER BAR SESSIONS 

The traditional Irish music sessions continue each Tuesday in the Tower Inn at 8.30 p.m. with a great mix of musicians and instruments which combines culture and heritage with an enjoyable night’s entertainment. So whether you are a musician or listener come along to the Tower Inn and support this great event.

TIDY TOWNS 

Tidy Towns volunteers meet on Saturdays at 10.30 a.m. at the Day Centre polytunnel. All welcome, even if you can only come now and again for half hour, every little counts.

BINGO 

 Bingo every Monday starts at 8 p.m. in Elphin Community Centre. Thank you for your continued support.

AA MEETINGS 

AA meetings are held on Mondays at 8 p.m. in Elphin Community Centre.

SOS ELPHIN  

SOS Elphin is available to everyone in the local parishes, villages and towns. It is a free, confidential and anonymous service. Contact The Health Centre, Chapel Street, Elphin for full details.

WINDMILL WHEELERS 

Windmill Wheelers Couch to 50 km or 25k is underway, working towards participation in the Windmill Classic on Sunday, June 7th. Open to complete beginners and returning cyclists. Now is your chance to get fit and enjoy all the benefits of cycling.

ADULT SET DANCING CLASSES 

Adult set dancing classes continue every Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. in An Bothar Rua. Dancers of all levels welcome - from beginners to advanced dancers. Dancing for the craic not competition. Contact Michael Gunn for information on 086 3122897.

LINE DANCING CLASSES 

Line dancing classes in An Bothar Rua every Wednesday. Absolute beginners, 7.30 p.m. to 8.15 p.m., beginner/novice, 8.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., all welcome.

The mobile library visits Elphin every Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 3.30 p.m..

WOODBROOK NS FUNDRAISING DANCE 

A fundraising social dance in aid of Woodbrook NS will take place in the Four Provinces, Rathallen on Friday, May 8th. Music by Andy Feery. Tickets €10, purchased on the door on the night. Doors open 8 p.m..

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION IN CROGHAN 

Children from Croghan National School will receive their First Holy Communion in Croghan Church on Saturday, May 9th at 12 noon.

CONGRATS NIKITA AND DECLAN 

Congratulations to Shannon Gaels U-20 players, Nikita Berzins and Declan Kennedy, and to the Roscommon Under-20 panel and their management team on winning the Connacht Final on Wednesday, April 29th. Following an enthralling game of football in Tuam, Roscommon defeated Mayo on a scoreline of 5-16 to 2-22, after extra time. Best of luck to all the players and management in the All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry.

COMEDY DRAMA ‘THE VISIT’ AT FOUR PROVINCES 

Croghan Over Dramatic Society presents "The Visit", a comedy drama by John Nugent, at the Four Provinces, Rathallen, Croghan, on Sunday, May 17th. Show times, 4 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.. Tickets €10. Tickets for 7.30 p.m. show are sold out.

FAMILY FUN DAY AND AUCTION 

A family fun day and auction will take place on Sunday, May 24th at the Four Provinces, Rathallen, commencing at 4 p.m.. The event is being held in memory of Rita Sharkey, Cavetown, who passed away on January 28th, 2025. All funds raised will go towards creating a lasting memorial at Cavetown Lake in memory of Rita, with a donation also being made to Croí in her honour.
