HELP FOR HOSPICE 

 An exhibition and sale of paintings by Lily Walshe, in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, will be held in Creeve Community Centre F45HD89, opening on Saturday, June 13th at 7.30 p.m. with a cheese and wine reception. Raffle on the night. Donations welcome. Please support this worthy cause.

LATE MRS NANCY MORAHAN 

The death took place peacefully on May 1st, surrounded by her loving family, of Mrs Nancy Morahan (nee O’ Connell) of Corgarve, Elphin and Roslindale, Boston, USA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Joseph M Morahan, her daughter, Ann Marie Firtpatrick and her husband John; her sons, Joseph and his wife Kimberly, Thomas and his wife Andrea, Brian and his wife Janine; daughter-in-law Maura Morahan, her 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Celine and her nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her son John, her parents Patrick and Maud, her sister Maura and her brother, Patsy. Following Mass of the Resurrection in Holy Name Parish Church, West Roxbury, Nancy was laid to rest in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. May she rest in everlasting peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam uasal.

AMENITY GRANTS 

 A total of 58 community groups and voluntary organisations in the county have been awarded funding of €75,000 under the Tidy Towns and Amenity Grants scheme. This is for small amenity projects and village-enhancement works. Cllr Valerie Byrne, from Elphin says the money is valuable to the communities and the work done by volunteer groups is invaluable to the county.

COMMUNITY GAMES CHURCH GATE COLLECTION 

A church gate collection in aid of Elphin Community Games will take place on Sunday, June 14th at St. Patrick's Church, Elphin. Please give generously to raise money for Elphin Community Games.

TIDY TOWNS 

Tidy Towns volunteers meet up at the Day Centre’s polytunnel every Saturday at 10.30 a.m.. All welcome, even if you can only come now and again for half hour, every little counts. More volunteers are needed to keep the momentum going. The first tiered planters have been placed on Main Street with thanks to those on the CE Scheme. The rest will be placed in a week or two. Thanks to Cllr Valerie Byrne for her hard work in getting funding for the group from Roscommon County Council Amenity Grant Scheme. Thanks also to everyone who sponsors the work of the group.

COMHALTAS ELPHIN 

The June monthly CCE music session will be held in the Central Bar (Cathal Murray’s), Elphin on Saturday, June 20th. Junior session, 7 p.m.–9 p.m. - the last hurrah before the Fleadh. This is a special warm-up for all the young musicians and singers ahead of the Connacht Fleadh this July. Main session, 9 p.m.. All traditional musicians and singers welcome. Come along for a great night of tunes, songs, friendship and community.

KILTRUSTAN SPORTS CLUB 

A clothing collection will take place the first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in aid of Kiltrustan Sports Club.

KEEP FIT CLASSES 

Keep fit classes with activator poles continue in Elphin Community Centre on Thursdays at 9 p.m.. Come along and get fit for summer. A warm welcome promised.

POP UP GAELTACHT 

Pop up Gaeltachts will be held at Dangan NS from June 29th to July 3rd and Croghan NS from July 13th to 17th, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Contact 0876971361/0876105645 for further details.

JUNIOR TRÁD MUSIC SESSIONS 

 The Tower Inn will once again host junior trád music sessions on Tuesdays, starting at 7.30 p.m.. The junior trád sessions will run for the duration of the school holidays and all junior musicians will be made very welcome provided they are accompanied by a parent.

SENIOR TRÁD MUSIC SESSIONS 

 The trád music sessions in the Tower Inn continue every Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. and have been proving to be a great source of both entertainment and active participation for local or visiting musicians and listeners.

SINGING SESSIONS 

 The next in the series of the Tower Inn singers’ nights is on Sunday, June 28th starting at 8.30 p.m.. All genre of songs and singing catered for.

MOTHER, BABY AND TODDLER GROUP

A meeting of Croghan Parish Pastoral Council will take place in Drumlion Parochial House on this Tuesday, June 9th at 7.30 p.m..

SHANNON GAELS 50/50 DRAW 

Recent winner of the Shannon Gaels GAA Club's 50/50 draw was Olivia Reilly (Gowel) who won €2,170. All support for the draw is much appreciated. Tickets may be purchased on ClubSpot or at local businesses.

ORGANIC GARDEN POP-UP SHOP 

Croghan Organic Garden Pop-Up Shop open every Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beside the Old Creamery Café. Fresh produce grown locally at the organic community gardens.

RECENT DEATH 

The death occurred on Thursday, June 4th of Mr Joseph Linnane, Enagh, Croghan. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Mary-Ann and his sister Marina. He is survived by his brother-in-law Seamus McCarte, friends and neighbours. Reposal took place in Mahon's Funeral Home, Boyle on Saturday, June 6th followed by removal to St. Michael's Church, Croghan. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Sunday with interment afterwards in Eastersnow Cemetery.
