Poet praises hospital staff and residents

Local poet Amy Abdullah Barry.
Cornafulla poet Amy Abdullah Barry facilitated three private workshops at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Roscommon Town, recently for its residents and staff. These workshops emphasised poetry and healing as part of the wider 'Vital Signs Tour' throughout the country.

“I am so thrilled to receive positive feedback from its director, Elizabeth Lynott about the workshops.” Amy said. She described her experience hosting the workshops to the residents and staff as a shared joy.
The 'Vital Signs Tour' was curated by poet and editor Martin Dyar and guided by the poetry anthology 'Vital Signs'. This tour brought poets and musicians to staff and clients in care homes, community hospitals and day care centres across the country. This project was in partnership with Poetry Ireland and supported by the Arts Council.
“I’m deeply grateful to the 'Festival in a Van' team, Elizabeth Mohen, Director, and Anne Hendrick, Project Manager, for this wonderful opportunity,” Amy added.
