Local artists and Abbey Hotel launch inaugural Creative Mic Night

A Creative Mic Night, an evening dedicated to celebrating local talent in music, poetry, and spoken word, will take place in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on Wednesday, July 9th at 8 p.m The free event, which will run until 10 p.m., is designed to provide a welcoming platform for artists and enthusiasts alike. It has been organised by local artists and the Abbey Hotel.

The Creative Mic Night aims to foster a vibrant community spirit and showcase the rich artistic talent in Roscommon and surrounding areas.

Performers of all levels are encouraged to participate, offering a diverse range of entertainment for attendees. This event is open to anyone who wants to share a song, a poem, a story… come along to share or to enjoy the performances.

"We are incredibly excited to offer this opportunity with Abbey Hotel that will help us to bring together the creative community in Roscommon,” said Bianca Fachel, a local artist who kickstarted this initiative, inspired by the local writers group, musicians, poets, and when she participated in the Strokestown Poetry Festival.

"The Creative Mic Night is an opportunity for individuals to share their passion, connect with fellow artists, and for the public to enjoy an evening of unique performances.” Sinead Byrne, a poet from Athlone, is also involved in organising and hosting the project on the first night.

“We believe this will become a cherished regular event, once a month in Roscommon Town,” she said.

The Creative Mic Night aims to cultivate, nurture a welcoming and inspiring space at the Abbey Hotel for local creatives to share their talents, build connections, and foster a thriving artistic community, culminating at the end of 12 sessions in 2026 in a celebratory music and literature festival showcasing both amateur and professional artists.

The Abbey Hotel, known for its great ambiance and central location, provides the perfect setting for this cultural gathering. The event promises an evening of captivating performances, and the hotel extends a warm welcome to families to enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
