Athlone Rape Crisis Service provides an outreach clinic at Boyle Counselling & Psychotherapy Centre on Tuesdays. This service is a free professional counselling service for both males and females who have experienced rape, sexual abuse, or any other form of sexual violence. Appointments can be made by ringing Athlone Rape Crisis Centre directly on free number 1800 306 600.
The death occurred, peacefully, in the wonderful care of Roscommon Hospice on September 19th, surrounded by her loving family, of Mrs Margaret O’Callaghan late of Forest View, Boyle and formerly of Birr and Johnswell, County Kilkenny. Predeceased by her husband, Liam, she is survived by her children Kieran, John, Brenden, Enda and Emer; daughters-in-law, Mary, Mary and Michele and son-in-law Craig; grandchildren Niall and Aoife and great granddaughter, Cara her brother, Ted and a wide circle of relatives, neighbours and friends. Margaret will be reposing in Mahon’s Funeral Home (F52ND23) Boyle today, Tuesday, September 22nd from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. with arrival to St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle for 7 p.m.. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, September 23rd at 12 noon followed by burial in Assylinn Cemetery, Boyle.
The Cortober Children's Choir resumes practice on this Wednesday, September 23rd from 6.45 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.. in the Patrician Hall. Practice takes place weekly and the choir sings at 12 noon Sunday Mass in the Patrician Hall every second week. The choir looks forward to welcoming back all members and new singers are most welcome to join.
The death occurred on Sunday, September 13th at St. Patrick's Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon, of Mrs Mary McShera (née McGlynn), Toorymartin, Carrick-on-Shannon. She was predeceased by her husband, Corney (Cornelius), her son, Con, grandson, Shane and great-grand-daughter, Riadh. Mary will be sadly missed by her family, Maureen, John, Bernie, Patricia, Geraldine and Christine, sons-in-law Alan, Michael, Gerard, Martin and John, daughter-in-law Grainne and John's partner Jackie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Reposal took place at her residence on Tuesday, September 15th with removal on Wednesday to St. Michael's Church, Drumlion, followed by interment in Drumlion cemetery.
Croghan Book Club meets on the second Monday of every month from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in the Creamery Café, Croghan. Next meeting on Monday, October 12th, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Everyone welcome and no requirement except an enjoyment of reading.
The death occurred on Monday, September 14th at Roscommon University Hospital, of Mr. Seamus Brennan, Treenagry, Boyle. Predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Matt, Seamus will be sadly missed by his wife, Bridie; daughter, Liz (Connaughton); son-in-law, Sean; grandchildren, great-grandsons, extended family, neighbours and friends. Reposal took place at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law on Wednesday, September 16th with removal afterwards to St. Attracta's Church, Ballinameen. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, followed by interment in Eastersnow Cemetery.
Recent winner of the Shannon Gaels GAA Club's 50/50 draw was Gerry Mullaney who won €1,125. All support for the draw is much appreciated. Tickets may be purchased on ClubSpot or at local businesses.
