Local Notes: Creative Arts Cafe, Annual Trip, Annual Trip

BALLAGHADERREEN STREET FEAST 

 Ballaghaderreen Community Garden will host a Community Street Feast on Sunday, June 7th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with shared dishes set up from 12.30 p.m.. This event is being created by the community, for the community. Everyone is invited to come along, enjoy food, music and good company, and take part in a welcoming afternoon of sharing and connection. Those attending are encouraged to bring food and drinks to share, bring their own plate, cup and cutlery, lend a hand on the day, keep the garden clean, and respect the people, space and peaceful atmosphere of the event.

RETURN OF THE DFMC 5 A SIDE TOURNAMENT 

The popular Declan Frain Memorial Cup five-a-side tournament returns to the Community Park on Saturday, July 25th.

Due to unprecedented demand, registration is now closed. Participants will be notified in the coming days by the committee. The committee and the Frain family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the continued support of this popular five-a-side tournament, held in memory of Declan Frain, a well-known and much-loved member of the Ballaghaderreen community and an avid football fan.

CALLING YOUNG WRITERS 

Are you a creative young adult, an aspiring writer or artist? Explore your creative side with other like-minded young adults in a supportive setting. Four workshops over five weeks are being held this June and July every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Ballaghaderreen Library. Workshops are free but spaces are limited. CREATIVE ARTS CAFE 

The Thursday Creative Arts Café at the Shambles continues to flourish as a welcoming space for both experienced artists and complete beginners, with imagination and creativity very much to the fore over recent weeks. It has been wonderful to see people exchanging ideas, collaborating on projects and inspiring one another, while different communities come together in a vibrant celebration of colour, energy and connection.

COMMUNITY GAMES 

 Well done to the Community Games Ballaghaderreen 5-a-side girls’ futsal team and management, who represented the area with great pride at the Cairn Community Games national finals in Gormanston, where they won silver. It was a fantastic achievement for the players, coaches and everyone involved, and a proud day for Ballaghaderreen Community Games.

HOSPICE AGM 

 The AGM of the Ballaghaderreen support group of Mayo/Roscommon Hospice will take place in Durkins on June 2nd at 8.30 p.m.. All members are asked to attend, and new members are welcome.

SENIORS DRAW 

Ballagh's senior played out a hard-fought draw in Aughamore on Saturday in Aughamore . Aughamore 1-15 Ballaghaderreen 18pts..

 EmployAbility Service Roscommon provides free and confidential employment and recruitment support for people with a disability, health condition, illness or injury who wish to pursue and maintain work in the open labour market. ANNUAL TRIP 

The Ballaghaderreen Women’s Shed will host its annual day trip on Tuesday, June 9th with this year’s outing titled “The Erris Experience.” The trip is open to all guests and not just members, and promises a full day of fun, music, dancing, laughter and good company. The coach will depart from Ballaghaderreen at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 9 p.m., with pick-up and drop-off in the town. All food and light refreshments are included, and full details can be found on the Women's Shed Group socials. The BWSG would be delighted to welcome anyone interested in joining them.

WALKING GROUP 

A waking group meets every Monday at 10 a.m. from the Family Resource Centre, catering for all fitness levels , new members welcome. To book or for enquiries, contact Janice 0868267271.

The dates for Year 4 of the Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival have been announced as August 1st to 9th. Further details on acts and ticket information will be released at a later stage, and updates will be shared on the festival page.

SUNFLOWER DAYS FOR HOSPICE 

Mayo Roscommon Hospice would appreciate your kind assistance in helping raise funds on National Sunflower Days for Hospice on Friday and Saturday, June 12th&13th.
