The Elphin-Ballinameen U-8 team were delighted to welcome Aaron Brady and the Nestor Cup to training.

ELPHIN AGRICULTURAL SHOW 

Elphin Agricultural Show will be held on August 29th.

DAY CENTRE TRIP 

The day centre’s next outing is on Thursday, August 13th to Carrick-on-Shannon. The group will be taking a private trip on Moon River followed by lunch in Cryan’s. Spaces available. If anyone wishes to avail of the day centre services please ring 0719635566 or 0876803675.

ELPHIN GAA 

The Elphin-Ballinameen U-8 team were delighted to welcome Aaron Brady and the Nestor Cup to training recently. Aaron passed on important GAA skills including cup raising tips to the "future champions" before presenting them with their new gear, which was kindly sponsored by Anua Gaffney Environmental and Hanly Quarries. A sincere thank you to Declan and Liz Gaffney of Anua Gaffney Environmental and to Enda and Sinead Hanly of Hanly Quarries for their very generous sponsorship of the team. They club is very lucky to be part of such a generous community across the two GAA clubs, whether through time, support, or funding.

TIDY TOWNS 

Huge thanks to Elphin, Creeve and the wider community for their wonderful support of recent church gate collections, which realised €525.85 and lots of lovely comments about the work in the town. Volunteers meet at the day centre polytunnel every Saturday at 10.30 a.m.. All welcome. Thanks also to everyone who sponsors the work of the group. New volunteers always welcome.

LOCAL LINK REMINDER 

 Route 468 (Strokestown to Carrick via Elphin) is now run by TFI Local Link. Passengers can continue to travel with confidence, with no changes to the existing schedule. Route 468 will continue to provide two return trips every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, connecting communities for shopping, appointments, social activities, education and more.

KILTRUSTAN SPORTS CLUB 

Clothing collection will take place the first Saturday of every month, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m..

TOWER BAR SESSIONS 

The Tuesday traditional music sessions in the Tower Inn will be proceeded by a junior music session starting at 7.30 p.m. for the duration of the school holidays. All junior musicians will be made very welcome provided they are accompanied by a parent.

TOWER SINGERS’ SESSION 

The next singers’ night in the Tower Inn will be on Sunday, August 30th. All singers are welcome to attend as all genre of singing is catered for. The night always provides enjoyable entertainment so come along and bring a friend.

 Bingo every Monday starts at 8 p.m. in Elphin Community Centre. Thank you for your continued support.

AA MEETINGS 

AA meetings are held on Mondays at 8 p.m. in Elphin Community Centre.

MASSES IN KILLAPOGUE AND EASTERSNOW CEMETERIES 

Masses will be celebrated in Killapogue and Eastersnow cemeteries on this Friday, August 7th at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively and in Drumlion Cemetery on Sunday, August 9th at 3 p.m..

CAVETOWN RESIDENTS CE SCHEME 

Cavetown Residents CE Scheme has vacancies for environmental workers in several locations under the Croghan based scheme, including an administrative assistant, preferably with agricultural experience. SHANNON GAELS 50/50 DRAW 

Recent winner of the Shannon Gaels GAA Club's 50/50 draw was Aideen McNiff who won €1,365. All support for the draw is much appreciated. Tickets may be purchased on ClubSpot or at local businesses.

FRESH ORGANIC VEGETABLES 

Croghan Organic Garden Pop-Up Shop opens every Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beside the Old Creamery Café. Fresh produce grown locally at the organic community gardens.

ANNUAL COLLECTION 

The annual collection for the upkeep of Drumlion Cemetery will be held on Sunday, August 9th at 3 p.m. Mass in the cemetery. Thanks to all who contribute in any way to the maintenance and enhancement of the cemetery. The cemetery secured first place in the Roscommon County Council awards in 2016, 2018 and 2023.

Masses in Croghan parish this week as follows: Croghan Church on Sunday at 10 a.m.; Patrician Hall, Cortober, Sunday at 12 noon; Drumlion Church, Wednesday to Friday at 10 a.m., Saturday 7 p.m..

 Bingo takes place in the Patrician Hall, Cortober on Sundays at 8 p.m.. Big cash prizes to be won. All welcome.

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS 

Congratulations to the Roscommon ladies intermediate footballers who were crowned All-Ireland champions on Sunday in Croke Park, following their fantastic display against Fermanagh, winning on a scoreline of 2-12 0-6.
