FUNDRAISER FOR SUNFLOWER CHILDREN’S HOSPICE 

An evening of music, dance, and community support in aid of the new Sunflower Children’s Hospice will be held on Friday, February 13th at 9 p.m. in the Four Provinces, Rathallen, F52 T660. Live music with Paul O’Connor and Effie Neill with Barry Doyle. Good company and a great cause. Entry optional, donate what you can. Everyone welcome, bring family and friends. Visit the Úna Bhán Tourism Centre in Boyle where the craft shop offers beautiful handmade items from local artists and stocks publications from authors from across Ireland. You can also explore the local market every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. A range of services is provided within the centre, including printing, scanning, and help with emails. The team is happy to provide information for tourists visiting the area. The centre is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. DEMENTIA ALLIANCE MONTHLY CAFÉ 

The Roscommon Dementia Alliance monthly café will take place on Wednesday, February 18th at 2 p.m. in Lough Key Forest Park. This is a gathering for people living with dementia together with their carers, with entertainment, music, storytelling and information. The annual general meeting of Ardcarne Parish Graveyards Committee will be held in the John McGahern Barracks Museum, Cootehall on Wednesday, February 18th at 8.30 p.m. sharp. New members especially welcome.

BOYLE ONE VOICE SINGERS 

Looking for a joyful, energising, feel-good evening? Join the Boyle One Voice Singers every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at Boyle Family Resource Centre. Come along, lift your voice, meet people from the community, and enjoy singing together in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. New members are always welcome—no auditions needed.

GAA LOTTO  

The numbers drawn in the Boyle GAA lotto draw were 10,12,15 & 30. There was no jackpot winner and there was one Match Three winner – Brian Hickey. The jackpot for next week stands at €9,300. You can play online in the Boyle GAA Club App or in various outlets locally.

CELTIC 50/50 DRAW 

Last Friday’s winner of the Boyle Celtic 50/50 draw were Tom and Kathleen Murray, who won €1,530. Tickets are on sale now for next Friday’s draw from all the usual outlets and online.

DARTS FUNDRAISING EVENT 

Plans are well underway for the Boyle Celtic Darts Night, which takes place on March 28th in aid of the Boyle Celtic Community Hub. Facebook and Instagram pages have been set up to promote the event with more details to follow.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH 

Are you new to the community, or have you been living here for a while and would like to improve your English? If English is not your first language and you’re interested in building confidence while meeting new people, Fáilte Isteach may be just what you’re looking for. Conversational English classes take place every Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Boyle Family Resource Centre. All are very welcome.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE 

Boyle St Patrick's Day Parade Committee had agreed to run the annual parade at 3.30 p.m. on March 17th. Anyone wishing to help or volunteer with the parade committee should e-mail boyleparade@gmail.com. There will be generous prize money and cups for the winning floats - overall winner, €500 and cup; runner-up, €200; U-16 winner, €200 and cup; U-16 runner-up, €100; Best Shop Window, cup; Best Vintage Vehicle, cup. To fund the parade a Go Fund Me Page is being launched and all donations greatly appreciated.

The AGM of the Cortober Residents Association will take place on Tuesday, February 17th at 8 p.m. in the Patrician Hall, Cortober. An annual subscription of €10 will be taken up . All members please attend and new members welcome.

LATE MR MICHAEL KILBANE 

The death occurred on Monday, February 2nd at the Ballinamore Nursing Unit, of Mr Michael Kilbane, Gardenstown, Carrick-on-Shannon. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Bridget, sisters, Phyllis (Farrell), Ann, Patricia and brother, John. Michael will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his brothers, Tony and Pat; sisters, Mary (Sr. Dolores), Vera (Lannigan) and Eileen; brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand-niece, grand-nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposal took place in St. Michael's Church, Drumlion on Wednesday. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 5th, followed by interment in Jamestown cemetery, Carrick-on-Shannon.

RECENT DEATH 

The death took place recently of Mrs Nellie Boyd (nee Shanley), a native of Knockarush, Boyle. She was predeceased by her husband, Liam Boyd, a native of Croghan. Nellie and Liam moved to England in the late 1950's. She is survived by her family, John, Elizabeth and Fiona, grandchildren and extended family.

‘FAITH AND FUN CLUB’

General Operatives duties will include the upkeep of all amenity areas, grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, litter and weed control, upkeep of flowerbeds and shrubs and landscaping.
