Michael Mullarkey, who celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends at the Ballyhaunis Golf Club recently.

DEATH OF BABY SADIE ELIZABETH BEIRNE 

The death occurred at Temple Street Children's Hospital, Dublin on Saturday, January 24th, of Baby Sadie Elizabeth Beirne, Croghan, Boyle / Carrick-on-Shannon. She will be forever lovingly remembered by her heartbroken parents, Christina and Donal; her grandparents, Patricia and Paul Beirne and Joan and Danny McNulty; uncles, Jonathan and Dáire; aunts, Ciara and Maeve; great-grandmothers, extended family and friends. Mass of the Angels was celebrated in memory of Sadie on Wednesday, January 28th in St. Michael's Church, Croghan, followed by interment in Killapogue Cemetery.

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT SEMINARS 

Life in the Spirit Seminars will take place in Ballinameen Community Centre on each Thursday from February 5th to Thursday, March 19th at 8 p.m.. Speakers will include Fr. Luke Ohiemi, Fr. NEW SUNFLOWER CHILDREN'S HOSPICE FUNDRAISER 

A fundraising night in support of a new Sunflower Children's Hospice will take place in the Four Provinces Lounge on Friday, February 13th, commencing 9 p.m.. Music by Effie Neill and Barry Doyle's Band and Paul O'Connor. Admission is optional and all proceeds will be donated to the new Sunflower Children's Hospice. GRANDPARENTS’ DAY 

Whether grannies and grandads are next door or further away, the moments they spend with their grandchildren and love they give abundantly, is such a special and important influence. Castleplunkett NS, was so glad to welcome the grannies, nannies, grandads and papas to a special Grandparents’ Day celebration to thank them for the role they play in their grandchildren’s’ lives. All remembered deceased grandparents, especially those who joined at the last celebration and have since passed away. They are deeply missed, but their love continues. Thank you to the family and friends and fabulous children in the school for making the occasion so special.

COUNTY PLAYERS SHINE 

Local Roscommon players Dylan Ruane, Darragh Heneghan and Robert Heneghan were on the Roscommon team that defeated Monaghan in the division one league on Sunday in Dr Hyde Park. Cathal Heneghan made an appearance from the bench. Dylan and Darragh scored two points each. Well done lads.

WILLIAMSTOWN 

VISIT OF RELIC OF ST. CARLO ACUTIS 

Fr Anthaiah Pudota together with the pastoral council members of Williamstown and Glenamaddy churches are pleased to announce that a first class relic of St. Carlo Acutis, who was recently canonised in Rome, will be on display in both churches the weekend of February 7t -8th. This will be an opportunity for all parishioners to come along and venerate the relics. Indeed it is hoped neighbouring parishes will also come along, everyone is most welcome. Timetable as follows: Saturday, February 7th the relics will be present in St Patrick’s Church Glenamaddy for 7 p.m. Mass, followed by veneration, public prayer and Eucharistic Adoration until 10 p.m.. On Sunday the relics will be present in St Therese’s Church Williamstown for 10.30 Mass, followed by veneration, public prayer and Eucharistic Adoration until 1 p.m.. It is especially hoped children and young people will attend as St Carlo Acutis died at the age of 15 from cancer and is a modern role model for youth. A small prayer souvenir of St Carlo will be available for everyone to take home, encouraging continued prayer and devotion.

HERITAGE SOCIETY 

Members are currently in the process of planning projects for the year, including both online and physical developments. All of this involves the continuation of ongoing projects as well as the commencement of new ones. Sympathy to Marion and the Smyth family, Carraroe on the death of Marion’s mother, Muriel Sweeney, Castlerea.

As Jessie Buckley from Killarney has received one of the Academy Award Nominations for Best Actress for her role in the film “Hamnet”, hopes are high in the locality that she can add to recent successes by capturing the biggest prize of all, the Oscar. Jessie’s great grandfather was Dr Jack Comer from Pollaneyster, Williamstown.

GLENAMADDY PLAYERS TO STAGE CHAPATTI 

 Glenamaddy Players are getting ready to bring their production of Chapatti to the stage before embarking on the festival circuit. This production is directed by Coman Keaveny and will be performed at the Town Hall Theatre, Glenamaddy on Friday, February 6th; Saturday, February 7th and Friday, February 27th at 8.00 p.m. nightly.
