ST BRIGID'S FESTIVAL EVENTS 

 A number of events have been organised by Roscommon County Council for the St. Brigid’s Festival – January 30th to February 2nd. Join local makers and artists at Una Bhan in Boyle for a series of welcoming, craft- led workshops honouring the traditions and creativity associated with St.Brigid. Workshops will include memory wire bracelet workshop, St Brigid's Cross making, Irish music and dancing, drawing and painting workshop. ABBEY PRIMARY ENROLMENT 

Enrolment for Abbey Primary School, Boyle for the school year 2026/2027 will open on January 30th and will close on February 13th. A copy of the school’s admission policy and the application form is available to download at: www.scoilboyle.ie or on request by emailing info@scoilboyle.ie The number of places being made available in junior infants for the new school year is 50.

LATE MRS MARGARET FLYNN 

 The death has occurred of Mrs Margaret Flynn (née Toolan), Ballisodare, Sligo and formerly of Cashel, Boyle, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the exceptional care of the doctors, nurses, carers and staff at North West Hospice. Predeceased by her parents, Mary-Jo and Paddy and her brothers, Michael and Philip. Beloved wife of Stephen and dear mother of Claire (Conor), Emma (Shaq), Luke (Hayley) and Brendan. She will be sadly missed by her husband, daughters, sons, grandchildren Ivan, Sorcha and Rory, brother Leo (Eileen); brothers-in-law, PJ, John and Muredach; sisters-in-law, Maura and Sally; cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass today Tuesday, January 20th at 11.30 a.m. in St Brigid's Church, Ballisodare with funeral proceeding to St. Brigid’s Cemetery.

The Annual General Meeting of Ardcarne Parish Graveyards Committee will be held in the John McGahern Barracks Museum, Cootehall on Wednesday, February 18th at 8.30 p.m. sharp, New members especially welcome.

AL-ANON FAMILY GROUP 

 Are you concerned about someone else’s drinking? Al-Anon family group provides help for family and friends of problem drinkers. Boyle Al-Anon meetings are held in St. Joseph’s Resource Centre (F52 N260) on Monday’s at 8.30 p.m..

ROSCOMMON DEMENTIA ALLIANCE 

 Roscommon Dementia Alliance hosts a monthly café at Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle to help support people affected by dementia, their families/carers. This month's café takes place on Wednesday, January 21st 2 – 4 p.m. and will include music/song/ advice and a chat. Please note change of venue. GAA LOTTO RESULTS 

The numbers drawn in Boyle GAA’s online lotto draw were 6,14,18, 32. There was no jackpot winner and there were two Match Three winners – Imelda Sheerin & Enda Commons. The jackpot for next week now stands at €9,000.

TALK ON CONCUSSION AWARENESS 

On Friday, January 23rd at 7 p.m. Boyle GAA Club will host a talk with Mr Patrick McGreevy, paramedic, who is certified through the GAA to give talks on concussion awareness. This talk will be open to coaches, adult players, parents/guardians of Underage players of all codes and attendance is free. However, the club asks those attending to contact secretary Amy O’Connor by email, secretary.boyle.roscommon@gaa.ie, so the club can have an idea of numbers.

COOTEHALL/CROSSNA/DRUMBOYLAN 

DRAMA PRODUCTION 

A highly acclaimed play, “I had to go for counselling” by Gerry Farrell, will be staged in Crossna Community Centre, Cleen Hall, F52 A497, on Saturday, February 7th at 8 p.m.. Doors open at 7.30 p.m.. Admission, €15. Tickets at the door.

DRUMBOYLAN NS ENROLMENT

Yoga has resumed in Ardcarne Park sports complex every Wednesday starting at 7.30 pm. Yoga has health benefits beyond the mat/chair, improves strength, balance and flexibility. Suitable for everybody, male and female. All welcome.

FUNDRAISER 

Have you bags of unwanted clothes sitting at home, waiting to drop them to a clothes recycling bank? Drumboylan NS is hosting a clothes collection as a fundraiser for the school on Tuesday, January 27th. If you have any unwanted clothes/shoes/bags/belts, please support the collection by donating. Items that are not accepted are duvets, blankets, pillows and crested uniforms. Bags can be dropped off during school hours or on the morning of the collection before 9.30 a.m.. Thank you for your support.

TRADITIONAL WEEKEND

PRESENTATION NIGHT 

St Michael's-St Ronan's Underage GAA & LGFA presentation night to present medals and celebrate the achievements of the successful U-14, U-16 and U-18 panels in 2024 and 2025 will take place in Kilronan Castle on Saturday, February 7th.

DINNER DANCE 

St Michael’s GAA dinner dance will be held in Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway on Saturday, February 28th. An evening of great food, music and plenty of fun.

COMMUNITY GAMES INDOOR SOCCER 

Ardcarne Community Games is inviting boys and girls to take part in the U-10 and U-13 indoor soccer competition. Parents/guardians should WhatsApp Agnes on 086 8761457 by Wednesday, January 21st to register. Please include the child’s name and date of birth. Team panels will consist of eight players. Places will be allocated to the eight oldest boys and girls who register in each age group. Volunteer coaches are also needed. If interested, please contact Agnes by Wednesday, January 21st.
