Local Notes: Tractor Run Update, Art for Children, Scrabble Club

TRACTOR RUN UPDATE 

The Ronan Regan Memorial Tractor Run has been rescheduled to Sunday, February 8th. Registration from 12 noon at Ballaghaderreen GAA Club. Run starts at 1 p.m., €20 per entry. Proceeds will go towards Ballaghaderreen GAA Club and the Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice. Your support would be greatly appreciated. The event will celebrate the memory of Ronan Regan. Gone too soon but always remembered.

THANKS FROM THE HOSPICE 

Mayo/Roscommon Hospice, Ballaghaderreen Support Group wishes to thank all who took part in the walk for Hospice on St. Stephen's Day, and gave so generously to the Hospice. The amount raised was €920. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

GAA 50/50 DRAW

Ballaghaderreen GAA's 50/50 draw was held on Sunday, January 18th in Old Forge Inn Cloontia. Winner of the jackpot of €685 was

David Drake, Crenane, selling agents, Saturday night team. Next draw is  on Sunday, January 25th in Clarke's Bar, Pound Street.

BALLAGH FC RESULTS

The senior men  lost 5-3 to Carrick Town FC in the Roscommon Cup, scorers Cathal Horan, Leon Sinnott -2. The senior ladies  lost a well contested game away to Mervue 2-1. Rebecca Finan scored the Ballagh goal.

MINDFULNESS COURSE 

 A mindfulness course will take place on Thursday, January 29th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Shambles, Charlestown Road, Ballaghaderreen. The facilitator will be Catherine Coyle (Diploma in Mindfulness and Positive Psychology).. To book your place, email themindfulpath.ie@gmail.com.

BALLAGH FC 50/50

ART FOR CHILDREN

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT GROUP MEETING 

 Grow mental health peer support group meets every Wednesday, 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm at the Ozanam Centre, Oak Grove, Ballaghaderreen. Online group available from 6:30 pm on Grow.ie/peer-support-mental-health.

LOCAL ARTISTS MEET-UPS

The scrabble club has resumed on Thursdays from 5 – 7 p.m.. at Ballaghaderreen Library. New members welcome.

DROP-IN COMPUTER COURSES FOR ADULTS

 Need a hand with your smartphone, tablet or laptop? A six-week basic computer course is taking place at The Shambles, Ballaghaderreen. This course offers friendly, practical support for anyone who wants to feel more confident using everyday technology. Running on Tuesdays from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., the course is ideal for beginners. Participants can expect clear, step-by-step guidance on the basics — from using a smartphone or tablet, to getting to grips with a laptop, email, internet browsing, and day-to-day digital tasks.

ART PROJECT IDEAS AND FUNDING CLINICS 

 Do you have a creative or artistic idea? Is it an idea for a small project? Is there a funding application you would like to apply for? Do you need help? The Ballaghaderreen Creative Places Coordinator can help. Sessions on Monday, January 26th, 12 noon - 4 p.m. at The Shambles. GURTEEN/MONASTERADEN 

DIED IN CANADA 

The death took place on Wednesday, January 14th in Toronto of Colette Roberts (nee Crummy), sister of John, Cloonloo. She was predeceased by her husband, Seamus of Kilkenny by her sister, Maura Callaghan and brother, Austin. Sincere sympathy to her daughter, Sharon, brothers John, Cloonloo and Henry, Arklow and to all their families. May she rest in Peace.

CRIB DONATIONS

Crib donations from the churches in Gurteen parish will go to Aid to Church in Need both for Gaza and nuns who care for orphans and refugees in Ukraine. This is the final week to give a donation -a most worthy cause.
