Local Notes: Windmill Wheelers, 'Mammy's Boy', Old Creamery Cafe
Some of the senior cycle students from Elphin Community College who recently attended the Hawk's Well Theatre in Sligo for a memorable theatre performance as Gaeilge as part of the school’s Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations.
The Annual General Meeting of Elphin Area Community Enterprise will take place on Wednesday, April 10th at 8 p.m. in the Elphin Windmill Cottage. New members welcome.
The community centre committee is extremely grateful to Pobal for grant received. In addition to the grant the committee has to raise in the region €30,000. People are invited to give a loan of €500 (which will be paid back over five years). No matter how big or small a donation the committee would be delighted to receive it. Also you can donate on the gofundme page on Facebook. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
A total of €4,560 was collected last Friday week for Daffodil Day. This amount has been forwarded to the Irish Cancer Society to help in the fight against cancer, which touches most families. The volunteers greatly appreciate all the help they received on the day and the generous donations from locals and passers-by.
Elphin GAA Healthy Club was delighted to host and support the 5k run/walk recently in aid of Down syndrome Roscommon. Well done Stella, Loretta and the Cregg family, Elphin.
Windmill Wheelers Sportive will take place on June 9th. This initiative is part of this year's leisure series events, designed to inspire cyclists of all skill levels to hop on their bikes and embark on a journey to explore the province on two wheels in the upcoming months.
Men’s ramble-in house takes place every Friday in Elphin Day Centre. Contact Anthony Dockery, Roscommon Leader Partnership for further information on 086 8264868. All men are encouraged to join for just two hours each Friday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with neighbours and friends in a comfortable setting. There will be plenty of activities from entertainment, storytelling, educational talks, outings and much more.

Traditional music, song and dance sessions continue every Tuesday night starting at 8 p.m.. Next singers session is on April 7th.
The County Fleadh returned to Elphin after a long break and the town was delighted to welcome visitors from near and far who came to enjoy the music.
Spring is in the air and Elphin Tidy Towns have been busy tidying up planters around the town. Watch out for more activity over the coming weeks.
Trien Players, Castlerea present ‘Mammy's Boy', a three act comedy by Jimmy Keary in the Trinity Arts Centre, Castlerea on Thursday, April 4th, Friday, April 5th and Sunday, April 7th, nightly at 8.30 p.m.. Tickets available on the door each night. Admission, adults €10/children €5. The play tells the story of the return of the prodigal son Hughie McGarry, much to his mother Maisie's delight. However his sister Betty and Maisie's friend Joe suspects his motives.

The Annual General Meeting of Drumlion Community Council will take place on Monday, April 8th at 8 p.m. in the Patrician Hall, Cortober. New members are urgently required to join the council. The work carried out by members is voluntary but very rewarding.
Fr. Alan, PP will visit the sick and housebound in the parish on Thursday and Friday, April 4th/5th, at the usual times.

The Old Creamery Community Cafe, Croghan, is open Wednesday-Friday 9.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.. All welcome to visit and sample some of the home-bakes, coffees and teas.
