ROSCOMMON PLOUGHING ASSOCIATION AWARDS AND PRESENTATION NIGHT 

Roscommon Ploughing Association wishes to thank everyone who supported the 2026 county ploughing championships held on the Hanley family farm, Fuerty. The Association greatly appreciates the support, sponsorship, voluntary effort and goodwill received from the local community, businesses, stewards and volunteers which contributed to another successful event. The awards and presentation night will take place on Saturday, June 6th at 9 p.m. in Castlecoote Lodge (Leydens). Presentations will be made to county winners and those qualifying to represent Roscommon at the All-Ireland Ploughing Championships in Tullamore this September. Music and refreshments will be provided and all are welcome to attend. The Association wishes all All-Ireland finalists the very best of luck in their respective classes.

HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING 

A hospice coffee morning will be held in Gleesons on Friday, May 29th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please support MINDFUL COLOURING Mindful Colouring takes place this Wednesday, May 27th from 11.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. at Roscommon Library. Join for a relaxing hour of mindful colouring. Materials provided.

DROP-IN DIGITAL SKILLS SESSIONS 

Drop-in digital skills sessions for adults take place at Roscommon Library on Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m.. Come to the library where you can get help and advice from a tutor from Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB). Bring your own device (phone, tablet, laptop).

FAMILY SUPPORT DROP- IN CLINIC 

A family support drop-in clinic will run on Thursday, June 4th and 18th in The South Roscommon Family Resource Centre. This service is also available in Vita House Outreach, Monksland N37 K163 on the same dates.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT THANK YOU 

 The Roscommon Town Darkness into Light Committee wish to express deepest gratitude to everyone who registered, donated, and participated by walking, talking, and running and volunteered for the annual Darkness into Light event held on Saturday, May 9th. People came out in their hundreds to support this worthy cause. Everyone's participation in the early hours of a dry morning and over the course of the weekend to support this worthy cause, clearly demonstrates the enthusiasm for spreading the message of hope. Thanks the staff and students of Mercy College Roscommon, Roscommon Fire Service, Garda Siochana Roscommon, Roscommon Civil Defence, Denis Smyth LTB, District Specialist Coffee, Casey’s, Glancys Fruit & Veg, Corrib Oil, Aurivo, Molloy’s Bakery, Dunnes Stores Roscommon, Fleming’s SuperValu, Ronan Mockler, all the stewards and volunteers, Lisnamult CLG, Roscommon People, Roscommon Herald, Roscommon County Council, Solstice Choir, Roscommon Men’s Choir, Sean Kelly, Roscommon CBS, Government Offices Convent Road Roscommon, Damien Hogan, Sherry Fitzgerald P. Burke & team, Roscommon Gaels, Cormac Hoare. An extra special thanks to all the local businesses who decorated their windows displays specifically for the event. The variety of displays was extraordinary, a tremendous effort by all. Thanks to everyone who organised successful fundraising events preceding and over the weekend, the proceeds of which go directly to Pieta House to provide 24/7 free counselling and support to those who need it. Thanks to the hardworking committee for their contributions and dedication in organising this successful event in raising the much need funds for Pieta House. SOLSTICE CHOIR

ROSCOMMON HARRIERS 10 MILE ROAD RACE 

 Roscommon Harriers AC’s 11th annual 10 mile road race is taking place on June 27th. This race is part of the Peugeot Race Series in conjunction with Pop up Races. The race is located on the outskirts of Roscommon Town and commences at 11.00 am. The race is AAI approved, chipped timed for accurate results. SUNFLOWER DAYS FOR HOSPICE 

Mayo Roscommon Hospice is seeking help raising funds on National Sunflower Days for Hospice on Friday & Saturday, June 12th&13th. GEORGE O’CONNOR TO SPEAK AT MASS 

Former Wexford hurler and footballer George O’Connor, who won an All-Ireland hurling medal with Wexford in 1996, will speak about the huge role his Christian faith plays in his life at 11 a.m. Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Kilkerrin on Sunday, May 31st. George has also been a dairy farmer, gardener and GAA coach over the years. This will be an inspiring talk and reflection on life.

EXAM MASS 

The annual exam Mass will be held on Monday, June 1st at 7.30 p.m. in St Joseph’s Church, Kilkerrin. All students, parents or guardians and family members are invited to attend this Mass. Wishing every blessing on Junior Cert and Leaving Cert pupils who are sitting their written examinations. A candle and prayer card will be available for each student to take home afterwards.

MOUNTBELLEW SHEARFEST 

Mountbellew Shearfest 26 kicks off on May 30th with a 5K sponsored run/walk beginning at 11 a.m., proceeds going to the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association. Registration at 10 a.m. Entry fee €10/per person, €20 for a family.
