Figures show burglaries increased by 10 per cent last year, rising by 878 to 9,981

Four men, three in their 30s and one in his 20s were arrested and are held in a Garda station in the North Western Region.

The arrests followed intelligence-led searches in counties Meath and Westmeath, targeting an organised criminal gang suspected of carrying out heists on both residential and commercial properties.

Precious Moyo, 38, who lived at the Athlone Accommodation Center at Lissywollen, Athlone, Co Westmeath, was sentenced at Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court on Tuesday.

The three are being detained at Garda stations in the region

The men were arrested in Dublin on Tuesday after searches of four properties in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

A female juvenile has been referred to the Garda National Youth Diversion Programme

As part of ongoing investigations into burglaries at residential and commercial premises in Co Roscommon and offences in Westmeath, Cavan, Meath, Offaly, Dublin and Kildare, Gardaí arrested three people on Friday morning. 

The break-in occurred on Wednesday morning

Local Gardaí are investigating a spate of burglaries in the county in recent days. Two burglaries in the Boyle area of County Roscommon occurred on Friday 12th January, with another being carried out at a house in Ballaghadereen on the same date.
