The evidence at the inquest was that the event took place amid heavy rain and wind two days after a Status Red weather warning.

A verdict of accidental death was recorded at the inquest of Eoin McCarthy who died on February 20th, 2022 following an accident at the Killarney Forestry Rally in Castleislanf, Co Cork.

The event had taken place two days after Storm Eunice, which was the subject of a Status Red weather warning.

O'Brien told the inquest that he had struggled to assist Eoin as “the water was brown like oxtail soup….you could not see your hand in front of your face.”
