Human remains have been found following a search for Mr Gaine who has been missing for two months.

State Pathologist, Dr Sally Anne Collis and Forensic Anthropologist Laureen Buckley have carried out preliminary examinations at the scene on Saturday afternoon.

Michael Gaine, 56, was reported missing from his home near Kenmare on Friday, March 21st.

As part of the investigation, gardaí have undertaken over 320 formal jobs/enquiries, along with nearly 130 witness statements.

Michael Gaine (56) was last seen in Kenmare on Thursday, March 20th, and was reported missing the following day.

The farmer was last seen buying phone credit at a Centra near Kenmare on Thursday, March 20th.

Michael Gaine was last seen in Kenmare town on March 20th last when he bought phone credit in a branch of Centra shortly before 10am.

Michael Gaine was last seen on Thursday, with CCTV footage showing him buying phone credit in a Centra near Kenmare.

Eamon O’Sullivan (73) will also be provided with a 24-hour personal assistant under the settlement of the action.
