A total eclipse of the sun will miss Ireland by only a couple of hundred kilometres, but we will get the next best thing

The eclipse is set to take place eastward at around 8pm until roughly 9.30pm, visible all across Ireland, although the east coast is slightly favoured.

The partial eclipse will occur at 3.45am and 4% of the moon will be covered.
