Justice David Holland on Thursday said Friends of the Irish Environment (FIE) should benefit from a protective costs order, which limits the legal costs a litigant is liable for in a court action.

At Gort District Court after looking at Galway County Council photos of the sign, Judge Alec Gabbett commented that “this sign is very old and is in need of a refresh”.

That Circuit Court ruling was subsequently quashed by Judicial Review at the High Court in September 2023.
