The singer and campaigner has revealed details of a conversation with Taoiseach Micheál Martin about the prospect of an election run.

The Taoiseach said former pop star Geldof was one of a number of people who had expressed an interest in running for the role.

He is considering seeking the support of local councils to run as an Independent.

Ed Sheeran said last week that they did not ask for permission to re-use his vocals from when he sang on Band Aid 30 in 2014.

The stage adaption will premiere on January 26 at The Old Vic theatre.
