The search resulted in the recovery of 38.6kg of cannabis herb, valued at around €772,000, subject to analysis, and two assault rifles. 135 rounds of ammunition were also recovered and seized. 

Paul Cleary commended both members of the force involved in the incident for their courage and professionalism “in the face of such an unprovoked attack.

The man (20s) was arrested in connection with the seizure and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at a garda station in Dublin. 

A total of 76 charges are being brought against those arrested in this phase of the investigation
