Uninsured vehicles represented 4.2% of the overall private fleet across the Republic in 2024, an almost 50% drop on 2022 figures

Over 2 million individual driver numbers have already been collected by insurers and these will now be added to the Irish Motor Insurance Database (IMID).

Drivers who fail to provide their driver number by March 31st will be unable to renew their car insurance or purchase a new policy until the driver number is provided.
