Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show University Hospital Limerick accounts for the largest number of those, with 111, followed by Cork University Hospital with 59 and St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin with 54.

There are 375 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 196 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
