An investigating garda told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that this was one of the worst cases she ever came across in her 10 years working in a child protection unit.

Michael Poole (65) was unanimously convicted by a jury of 14 counts of raping Lisa Brown on dates between 1980 and 1988. He was also convicted of eight counts of indecent assault.

The 40-year-old Dublin man pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing harm on a date in February 2025. He cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Patrick McDonagh (25) clipped Michael Whitfield with his car over four years ago, causing Whitfield to fall backwards and strike his head off the ground, causing life-changing injuries, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard.

Kassim Dembele (28) was in a “good” on/off relationship with his girlfriend at the time and there was no history of violence before he attacked her without warning on a Dublin street in July 2023, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard.
