A garda cited a number of reasons, including access to large sums of cash and alleged links to organised crime, as to why he believes Gill poses a flight risk if he is granted bail ahead of that hearing on June 3rd.

Gill on Friday failed in a second application to have a senior barrister represent him in his extradition challenge before the High Court next month.

Gill's case raises complex matters of law because the evidence would be considered valid in a court in the United Kingdom, the extradition hearing was told on Friday.

Gill (44) with an address at Malahide Road in Clontarf, is wanted by the PSNI in Northern Ireland so he can be prosecuted, on a “joint enterprise basis”, for the murder of 36-year-old Robbie Lawlor, who was shot dead in the front garden of a house at Etna Drive, Belfast, on the morning of April 4th, 2020.

Jonathan Gill appeared before the High Court in Dublin on Friday morning.
