The PSNI mounted a security operation for the march on Sunday morning.

Father Aidan Troy received multiple loyalist death threats in January 2003 over his role in the Holy Cross dispute in Belfast.

The event comes after a deal on managing parades at the once volatile flashpoint broke down earlier this summer.

He had previously been linked with the murder of teenager Keane Mulready-Woods in Co Louth in January 2020. 

A meeting David Trimble had with residents was said to be ‘instrumental in creating the climate for a discontinuation of the protest’.
