€115,000 in funding to transform the former Scouts Den in Castlerea into a community arts and music space has been welcomed locally.
Welcoming the funding, local Fianna Fáil councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice said the funding had been secured to refurbish the old Den for arts related uses under the Artist Workspace Scheme.
“It is envisaged the space can be used by artists during the day and by community groups for arts and music purposes in the evening time.
“I want to thank Roscommon County Council's Arts Officer Rhona McGrath and staff at the council for their work on securing funding for this project.
“I am also delighted to be involved in this exciting project for the Scouts Den in Somers Park in Castlerea,” said Cllr Fitzmaurice.
The funding has been provided by the Department of Culture and Roscommon County Council.
