2024 Rose of Castlerea crowned

It was a fantastic evening last night as the 2024 Rose Of Castlerea was crowned.
Tara Keane was selected as the 2024 Rose of Castlerea at the Trinity Arts Centre, the culmination of the eight day Castlerea Rose Festival where nine contestants competed for this year’s crown. The event’s compere was Gerry Glennon of Mid-West Radio. The evening was sponsored this year by Josie’s Café.
The Castlerea Rose Festival, now in its 38th year, scooped a major national award earlier this year. In February, it won the ‘Best Irish Festival’ award at the LAMA All-Ireland Community Awards in Dublin.
The festival was nominated by the tourism section of Roscommon County Council as one of the county’s premier tourism attractions.
That national award is due recognition for a festival which continues to gain wider acclaim each year.
The festival saw a spectacular line up of music and fun for all the family, which got underway on Saturday, July 27th. The acts included The Tumbling Paddies, Mike Denver, and ‘Take It To The Limit’, a celebration of The Eagles.
