The County Roscommon Cemeteries Graveyards Committee recently completed one of its Action Plan projects at Assylinn Graveyard.

The County Roscommon Cemeteries Graveyards Committee recently finished works at Assylinn Graveyard, completing a phase of the County Committee’s Action Plan.

Assylinn Graveyard was one of the projects identified in the Action Plan, and despite adverse weather conditions for the first six months of the year and the competition to secure a booking with tree surgeons, the work has been safely completed.

The graveyard situated near Boyle was one of a number of projects identified in the Action Plan, which was supported by Cllrs Tom Crosby and Liam Callaghan.

Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice later facilitated a round table presentation of the County Committee’s plan with Roscommon County Council Directors and officers.

Last year an increase of almost 20% in funding was committed to local groups, and the County Committee was also allocated additional technological support to improve communication channels via a new email address (gc@gmail.com).

The Graveyard committee acknowledged the support of Roscommon County Council, and will continue its objectives of coordinating with local communities, aiding Government Departments, informing the county council of potential hazards and streamlining workflows.
