Advice issued to rail users heading to National Ploughing Championships

Rail customers are being advised that services next week to and from Mayo - some of which run through County Roscommon - are expected to be extremely busy next week for the duration of the National Ploughing Championships taking place near Tullamore.

With the championships running from next Tuesday to Thursday, September 16-18th, Iarnród Éireann has confirmed that the majority of services on Tuesday and Wednesday are already sold out. There is some limited availability on Thursday.

Those not in possession of a valid reservation will not be permitted to travel. Tickets can be purchased at irishrail.ie or by calling 01 8366222.

Bus Éireann are operating a connecting bus service from Tullamore station to the site of the ploughing championships at Screggan. 

This can be purchased as an add-on to the train ticket online.
