Annual soccer match this Friday
The fourth annual Roscommon Gardaí and the Roscommon Special Olympics Club.
The stage is set for a fantastic game of soccer between Roscommon Gardaí and the Roscommon Special Olympics Club.
This Friday evening the two sides will take to the pitch for the fourth annual game at the Roscommon Community Sports Park at 7pm.
“We are training hard ahead of the big match, following the heartbreak of losing the last three matches on penalties,” Roscommon Gardaí said on their Facebook page. “Could this be our year?” However, the Roscommon Special Olympics Club were quick to respond with a devastating “I don't think so”.
Support for these incredible athletes would be appreciated so why not come along and enjoy a wonderful night of entertainment and fun. All are welcome and refreshments will be available straight after the game.
The winners will receive the Máire Allen Memorial Trophy, kindly sponsored by Roscommon Town Youth Soccer. A much loved local woman, Máire passed away in September 2023. As well as a much loved wife, mother and friend, she was a volunteer with many local organisations, including Roscommon Special Olympics.
