A Ballinlough man has been warned that he will “only get the benefit of the Probation Act once”.
Eric McComack of 7 Scahill Park, Ballinlough appeared before Judge Vincent Deane at Ballaghaderreen District Court for assault causing harm on December 11th, 2021 at The Flat Above Glamorize, Main Street, Castlerea.
The court heard the incident involved a girlfriend of a friend. It was alleged he threw her on the ground and she received injuries to her upper body. She has made a full recovery after a course of anti-inflammatories.
Ms Nessa O’Callaghan, appearing for the defendant, said there was alcohol involved and “he accepts he shouldn’t have done it. It was an unfortunate incident.”
An offer of €500 of compensation for the injured party was made.
She said her client, who is in his late 30s, has taken up employment.
She added: “This was not in his nature. He will not trouble the court again.”
The judge imposed the Probation Act.
