Boil Water Notice issued for Castlerea supply

A Boil Water Notice has been issued for 4,400 customers supplied by Castlerea Public Water Supply.
A Boil Water Notice has, this morning Saturday, been issued for 4,400 customers supplied by Castlerea Public Water Supply.
Uisce Éireann says that the Boil Water Notice has been issued following recent heavy rainfall, which has led to "increased turbidity" impacting the treatment process at the Longford Springs water treatment plant.
Customers can check if their property is included by visiting the Water Quality section of www.water.ie and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1800 278 278.
The company says that drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann are working to rectify the turbidity issues and lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible, in consultation with the HSE. In the meantime, all customers on the Castlerea supply are advised to boil water before use until further notice.
Ger Greally, Uisce Éireann said this morning: “Public health is Uisce Éireann's number one priority and we would like to assure customers that this notice has been put in place to protect public health. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to homes and businesses and would like to assure customers that we are working to resolve the issue and lift the notice as quickly and as safely possible.”
