Leitrim County Council has been granted planning permission to demolish Hartley Bridge and build a new bridge in its place around 25 metres away.

Leitrim County Council has been granted planning permission to demolish Hartley Bridge and build a new bridge in its place around 25 metres away.

The works are expected to take around two years to complete.

Hartley Bridge is located around halfway between Carrick-on-Shannon and Cootehall in North Roscommon and is in poor condition.

Leitrim County Council and Roscommon County Council both put forward applications to replace the century-old bridge in 2021 due to it deteriorating with concrete falling away.
