Bridget Jones' Roscommon connection

A local business has been getting praise and making headlines after its products were featured in a new smash hit film.
Skincare and wellness company deDANÚ, which is based in Athlone, was “thrilled” to see its products feature in ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’. Its products are made in Monksland, Athlone, South Roscommon, at the company’s manufacturing site.
“We were delighted to feature in Bridget Jones' set design,” the company said on Facebook. “Sitting proudly on Bridget’s bathroom shelf, bedroom locker, living room, our products feel right at home. Blending timeless elegance with playful charm, much like Bridget’s beautifully chaotic world.” Company founder Leah Fletcher told RTÉ that a member of the set design contacted her about a year ago with a view to using some of the company's products in the film.
"Someone who been working on the film had used our face cream for postpartum acne, and she had loved it, and she thought of us straight away, because it matches in what they wanted to do on set," Ms Fletcher said.
"So they contacted us and we didn't really believe what it was at first, because it seemed a bit too big for a small little brand."
The Roscommon Local Enterprise Office, which proudly supports the business, congratulated deDANÚ on its success. Founded by Leah and her husband James DeMello in October of 2020, deDANÚ is an award-winning skincare and aromatherapy brand. It develops and manufactures exceptional products that promote natural beauty and holistic wellbeing. With a strong focus on premium Irish ingredients and eco-conscious practices, deDANÚ serves a diverse clientele of health-conscious individuals.
