Call for safety measures in Roscommon village following road traffic collision

Roscommon County Council is being urged to expedite safety measures in Cloonfad following another road traffic accident in the West Roscommon village.
Fianna Fáil councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice is calling on the council to immediately put a plan in place to introduce traffic calming and speed reduction measures in the village.
Cllr Fitzmaurice said that he would be contacting the roads section of the council to start this process as a matter of urgency.
His call comes in the wake of a road traffic collision on Saturday morning last in Cloonfad village involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.
Speaking to the Roscommon Herald, a garda spokesperson said that a number of people received medical treatment following the incident which occurred at about 10.45 a.m.. Investigations are ongoing.
Many accidents have occurred in the village, according to the councillor.
