A cheque for over €11,000 has been presented to the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice Foundation in memory of Edel Beisty (nee Knight) of Hyde Court, Roscommon Town, and formerly Ballina, who passed away on October 13th, 2024 in the care of Roscommon Hospice after a long battle with cancer.

For the last few weeks of her life Edel was cared for by the incredible team of doctors, nurses and staff at Roscommon Hospice and her family are eternally grateful for the care that Edel received during that time.

Soon after Edel’s passing her great friend, Liza Kelleher from Cork, and her family ran a half marathon in Waterford to raise funds for Roscommon Hospice and Cork Hospice. They launched a ‘Go fund me’ campaign and the great communities of Roscommon and Cork contributed generously to this really worthy cause. The funds raised, €11,250, have since been presented to Roscommon Hospice.

Hospice and its palliative care teams have supported so many patients and families during very difficult times. Hospice relies heavily on voluntary funding and fundraising, and the Beisty family are delighted to play their part to enable other patients and families to benefit from the great care and support that they received in their hour of need. They extend sincere thanks to all those who contributed to this fundraiser for Hospice in Edel’s name.
